South Carolina swimming dominated Queens University of Charlotte in a dual meet, with the women winning 196-63 and the men winning 165-96. The women won all 14 events with standout performances from Amy Riordan and Emma Reiser. Riordan won the 100 free and 100 fly, while Reiser picked up her first collegiate win in the 1000 freestyle. On the men’s side, Connor Fry, Tommy Eaton, and Linus Kahl each earned 18 points by winning their two individual events. Fry led the 1000 free sweep, while Kahl secured victories in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events.
Coach Jeff Poppell praised the team’s effort and competitiveness, expressing confidence heading into the midseason meet. In diving, Sophie Verzyl and Charles Bayer also had strong performances against UNCW, with Verzyl winning both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.
The Gamecocks will next compete in the Gamecock Invitational at the Carolina Natatorium and the UGA Invitational in Athens, Georgia. Both the men and women’s teams are showcasing their strength and depth early in the season, setting the stage for continued success in upcoming competitions.
