Report: Shane Beamer promotes Mike Shula to offensive coordinator for South Carolina football team

South Carolina football is making a change in its coaching staff by promoting Mike Shula to offensive coordinator, according to ESPN’s Chris Low. This decision comes after the departure of Dowell Loggains, who took on a new coaching role at Appalachian State.

Shula, 59, joined the South Carolina staff earlier this year as an offensive analyst/senior offensive assistant coach. He brings a wealth of experience to the position, having played quarterback at Alabama and worked in various coaching roles in the NFL.

Coach Shane Beamer indicated that quarterback LaNorris Sellers would be influential in choosing the new offensive coordinator, as Sellers had a strong relationship with Loggains. Sellers worked closely with Shula during his first year as a starter, in addition to Loggains.

The upcoming Citrus Bowl against Illinois on December 31 will serve as Shula’s first test as offensive coordinator. South Carolina fans will be eager to see how Shula’s leadership impacts the team on the field.

Shula’s background in football, coupled with his experience working with quarterbacks, makes him a valuable addition to the coaching staff. His familiarity with the team and the players should help facilitate a smooth transition as the Gamecocks head into the postseason.
